In 1941, First Church Nursery School opened its doors under the guidance of Hartford Seminary as a mid-week Sunday school for parishioners.
Over the years, the program expanded to meet the needs of a diverse group of children in our community. Beginning with a program designed for special needs students not being served by the public schools, to a summer program, extended day options, and eventually the creation of an infant program.
In 2016, First Church Nursery School officially changed its name to First Church Academy for Young Children. The Academy was awarded accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This distinguished honor recognizes the high-quality programming offered here.
